England is leading the way in ensuring events held here are truly
sustainable.
Many of England's leading conference and events facilities have incorporated the latest "green technology", source local food and have teams based within the venue that specifically help event planners to achieve the highest sustainability standards.
Local food
English venues are increasingly using
local food and drink produce. And why not? England has some of the most delicious food to be found anywhere in the world.
What's more you could incorporate activities to let your delegates find out more about English food and drink. Try a
brewery tour to sample England's superb ales, a
cookery course, visit one of the many local
food festivals or tea blending followed by afternoon tea in the traditional English style. For more information about food and drink click

Sustainability standards
BS 8901 is the
British Standard which has been developed specifically for the events industry with a purpose of helping the industry to operate in a more sustainable manner. The standard defines the requirements for a
sustainable event management system to ensure an enduring and balanced approach to economic activity, environmental responsibility and social progress. For more information click

UK Government department
DEFRA have also produced a booklet entitled
